Before becoming a mom, I was pretty religious about getting my eyebrows laminated and tinted. I swore I would never touch my eyebrows, no matter how busy I was with motherhood.
This blog is officially turning into a list of all the things I said I would never do, before I became a mom. How ironic.
Since I already showed you my experience with DIY brow lamination, I figured it would only make sense to finish the job with my experience and review of Ardell Browtint.
What is Ardell Browtint?
Straight from the website, the Ardell Browtint is: A gentle powder and developer formulation specifically designed to carefully create full and defined brows with ease and accuracy. The kit includes 1 powder tint 8.5 g, 1 conditioning developer 30mL, 1 reusable plastic tray, 1 reusable spoolie, and 1 reusable spatula for mixing. Your one-stop-shop for creating your dream on-fleek brows!
*Side note, do people still say “on-fleek”? Seriously, asking for a friend…
At the time of this post, The Ardell Browtint is priced at $11.82 and includes 12 applications. The tint comes in 4 different shades and claims to be “long-lasting” although no specific time frame was given.
My Review of Ardell Browtint
The reason I became interested in tinting my eyebrows is because although I had gotten them micro bladed, the tattoo is starting to fade and I feel as though my brows are looking a little more gray than dark brown.

This is what the kit looks like once unboxed. Right away it’s giving college chemistry lab and I dropped out of that course, soooooo that’s fun. Although, the instructions do end up being clear and easy to understand.

Okay, so now we mix the developer with the tint and apply it to the brows. Seems simple enough. But what happened next was pure chaos.
I’m mixing and mixing, but the concoction remains a white color. Hmmm… ok. Let’s go with it. Then, I scramble to look for the applicator. It turns out the directions call for you to use a spoolie brush to apply. I didn’t like that at all. It lacks the accuracy and precision I would like regarding applying something to my eyebrows.
For a while after I “applied” the tint, it remained a white color. I started freaking out that I had just applied bleach to my eyebrows. I checked the box and then the bottle of tint, everything said “dark brown” but my mind wouldn’t believe it. It was a stressful ten minutes!
After about 5 minutes of having the tint on my brows, I slowly started seeing it turn darker. Then a few minutes later, very dark. Oh crap, too dark??! Then I was able to see all the areas on my skin that the tint had gotten applied with the clumsy spoolie.

Kind of a mess. This picture is actually after I had attempted to “clean” them up a bit. I really wanted to wash it off at this point but I am already this far I might as well go balls to the wall. I waited the full ten minutes before removing the tint with a damp towel.
Here is the final product after using the Ardell Browtint:

Not as bad as I thought but also not as good as I thought, if that makes sense. For as stressful as the process was, I was expecting something more.
The instructions say to apply for another 3-5 minutes if you have not achieved the desired result, but I was just done at that point.
In terms of how long the tint lasted, I would say 2-3 days.
PROS:
- Cost-Effective
- Extensive Shade Range
- Ammonia Free
- Cruelty Free
CONS:
- Stressful
- Messy
- Difficult Applicator
MOMest Review Score: 5/10
I hate giving low scores, but I vow to always be honest with you guys.
Please keep in mind this score has some to do with user error, and I believe that with some practice as well as finding a more precise applicator, this could potentially be a great product.
What are your guys’ thoughts? Am I being dramatic, is it all my fault?
I am going to keep experimenting and find an eyebrow-tinting product that I can 100% promote.
Lastly, please standby for my upcoming blog post titled “How To Get Eyebrow Tint Out Of a Porcelain Sink.”
I told you, pure chaos.
