First of all, you are an amazing mom. How do I know? Because you clicked on a post about becoming an even better mom!
But I get it, motherhood seems to be a never-ending journey of questioning our choices and constantly trying to figure out how we can improve.
In the last year, there have been 3 things I have implemented in my daily routine that have hands-down made me not only a better mom but a better person overall. And I would love to share them with you.
1. Practice The Miracle Morning
The Miracle Morning is the number one reason I am a better mom today than I was yesterday. I am even considering doing an entire post on my morning routine. Truly, The Miracle Morning has changed my life and thousands of others.
If you are unfamiliar with the Miracle Morning, it is a book and a way of life proposed by Hal Elrod, that emphasizes the importance of using six practices in the morning to create positive change in your life. Some of these include affirmations, visualization, and journaling. The principles and the skills you’ll find in this book will help you to be present in every moment. And it will teach you to care for yourself and your family in a remarkable new way.
If you want to become a better mom, and even more, an amazing new version of yourself, practicing the Miracle Morning is where you need to start.
If purchasing the book is not in the cards for you right now, a quick Google search will give you the basic concept of how the Miracle Morning works and how to apply it to your life.
2. Get Fresh Air
Everyday. Rain or shine. You NEED to get outside.
Either by yourself or with the kids, getting outside for at least 10 minutes a day can make the difference between a burnt-out mama, or Vitamin D-fueled and happy mama.
I’ll be honest, sometimes I’m like “This seems like a lot of work right now”. But I never regret getting outside each day.
And when you are outside, practice some mindfulness. Find a tree or a flower you like and take time to appreciate its beauty and growth. This is a great way to stay present in the moment instead of worrying about your current stresses in life.
Each time I go outside I can find something new. It also reminds me of how distracted I usually am with other things. The kids love it too, of course!
3. Unplug For A Period of Time
My kids are getting to that age where everything is “Mom, watch this! Did you see me, did you see me”?
It’s the cutest thing ever! But with this, they are also becoming more in tune and aware of the things happening around them. Which includes mama being on her phone.
This is a tough one, especially as someone who runs an online business. But unplugging from my phone and laptop for chunks of time during the day has allowed me to most definitely become a better mom.
Though I try to do most of my work during nap times, I still find myself scrolling through Pinterest often or texting with friends. There have been times when my toddler actually slaps the phone out of my hands!
Challenge Yourself
I challenge myself every day to be cognizant of my screen time. When I am playing on the ground with the kids, I will put my phone in a place that is difficult to reach. I leave my phone in the house when we are outside. My husband and I have a strict no phones after he gets home from work policy.
Just like most habits, unplugging for parts of the day may take some practice at first. Eventually, it will become more comfortable and you will start to notice an even closer bond with your family. Not to mention, it is a great self-care practice for YOU to get disconnected at times throughout the day.

Being a better mom is an ongoing journey of self-discovery and growth. No one is perfect, but every effort you make to improve your parenting skills and foster a loving, nurturing environment for your child is a step in the right direction.
Embrace the imperfections, cherish the moments, and remember that love, patience, and communication are the cornerstones of being the best mom you can be.
Your dedication to being a better YOU is a precious gift to both yourself and your child.
